Cooper turned four years old today. He wanted a butterfly cake. We had his friend Elizabeth over for dinner and cake and the neighbor girls came over too and shared cake and gave him a present. Even with just three kids and several adults Cooper was a little overwhelmed. We asked him to open a gift from the girls and he hemmed and hawed a little bit and then sulked to the corner before telling everyone "I'm so embarrassed."
Cooper and I went for an evening walk around the neighborhood. When we got outside Cooper suggested we walk to the playground. I said alright but told him we could only stay a minute since it was dark. When we left the park Cooper tripped and fell on the sidewalk and hurt his knee and hand. He had to be carried all the way home and cried the entire time. About half way back he said to me "It wasn't MY idea to go to the playground!"
