On May 5th 2000 a group of us drove from Philadelphia to Manhattan (Wharton classmates Susan, Pak and Ed and my brother Jim) to ride in the annual Bike New York bike ride.  About 30,000 to 40,000 riders participate in the 42 mile bike ride that goes through all five boroughs.

We started in Manhattan at Battery Park lining up on Broadway.  There were so many riders that it was stop-and-go all the way up to Central Park until we could really start riding.  From Central Park we biked to Upper Manhattan and then into the Bronx before heading back to Manhattan.  We headed east out of Manhattan to Queens (and through Astoria Park) before biking south to Brooklyn.  We finished the ride in Staten Island after crossing the Verrazano Narrows Bridge.  We took a ferry from Staten Island back to Battery Park.
